What is Assisted Living?

Assisted living is a residential option that promotes self-direction and participation in decisions regarding care and services. As a model of supportive housing, assisted living emphasizes independence, individuality, privacy, dignity, and choice.

How do I know if Assisted Living is the right choice?

Most assisted living residents are in the mid-80's and need assistance with basic activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing. Assisted living provides the support needed to allow residents to remain as independent as possible.

How much does living at Edelweiss Village cost?

The range of prices for our apartments is $3,700 to $4,750 per month. There is no escrow required. Yearly rental increases will be minimal and may occur from time to time. However, every effort will be made to keep our apartments affordable.

What about emergencies - is there a personal emergency response system?

There will be an emergency call system in every apartment.

Are personal care services available?

Up to one hour of personal assistance daily is included in your rate. This includes showers, medication reminders, and help with activities of daily living. A personal care assistant is there to help around the clock.

Are laundry and housekeeping provided?

Laundry for linens will be provided as will light housekeeping once per week.

Is transportation provided and available?

Yes, there will be group transportation available to nearby stores as well as scheduled times for physician visits. There may be a minimal charge for residents who require more than two doctor's visit in a week. We are also located on a bus line.

Is parking available?

Yes, residents with vehicles registered to them will have one reserved space. Maintenance will assist in shoveling out spaces in the event of a snow storm.

Are social and cultural activities organized?

Expect a busy and fulfilling day. Whether your interests are arts and crafts, structured exercise programs, bridge, canasta, or poker, excursions to local events, mall shopping, or a quiet afternoon in the library, the options are many.

What types of medical services are available or provided?

Each resident will have their own PCP- just as they had living in their own home in the community. Now, they will have the added benefit of a medical staff person in the building during the day, along with 24 hour emergency response system. Personal care monitoring provided for those individuals with specific care needs such as diabetes and seizure disorders.

Is assistance with medication provided?

Yes, Self Administered Medication Management ("SAMM"), which provides the resident with reminders and assistance in taking medication.

What about the staff?

We will have staff in our residence 24 hours a day who will be responsible for security checks during the evening. Security system for the building will be in place during the overnight hours.

What about physical exercise?

An exercise room is available. In addition we will have a wellness program.

What spiritual/religious programs and services are provided or nearby?

Regular religious services are provided on campus. Communion and other rites can also be arranged.

Are animals allowed?

Yes, size and type are restricted per our pet policy.

How late can visitors stay - can they stay overnight?

Much like your own home visitors are welcome, allowed to stay in the evening and overnight provided they do not cause a disturbance to your neighbors. Our guest policy will answer any questions you may have in regards to visitors.

Can a resident choose the main meal for noon or night?

We will make every attempt to accommodate taste and preferences however, the main meal of the day will be served at noon.
